Timothy Lewis

President

Tim Lewis, a native of Talladega, Alabama, was appointed by the Supreme Court as State Law Librarian and Acting Marshal of the Supreme Court of Alabama on June 1, 1992. He served as Acting Marshal until 1994.   

Tim attended the public schools in Talladega, graduating from Talladega High School in 1974. He graduated from the University of Alabama, receiving his B.A. in English in 1979, his M.L.S. (Master of Library Services) in 1983 and his J.D. in 1984. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar Association in 1988. Tim served as Assistant Director of the Supreme Court & State Law Library from 1984 to 1992.

Besides the Alabama State Bar, Tim is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the Southeaster Chapter of the American Association of Law Libraries, the Law Library Association of Alabama, and the Alabama Library Association. 

Currently, Tim serves as President of the Alabama Bench and Bar Historical Society and as a member of the Lawyers Hall of Fame Selection Committee. 

Callie Dietz

Executive Director
Callie comes to ABBHS after more than 40 years of working in two state judiciaries and assisting many state court systems through the National Center for State Courts (NCSC). She has lived most of her life in Montgomery where she served in numerous positions for the AL Administrative Office of the Courts. She retired in 2012 as the Administrative Director of Courts.   A month later, Washington State called and asked her to become their State Court Administrator.  As a result, Callie became the first woman in the U. S. to serve as the administrative head of the courts for two different judicial systems. She served as President of COSCA, the Conference of State Court Administrators and Vice-Chair of the NCSC board.  In 2019, she began working as a consultant for the NCSC, coordinating the education efforts of the National Association of Court Administrators. In 2022 she moved back to Alabama and volunteered as a Docent with the State Law Library assisting with tours of the Judicial Building and working part time in establishing a judicial learning center for visitors to the building.
